Owen Sound Police Partner With Medic Alert Foundation

The Owen Sound Police Servce has partnered with Medic Alert Foundation Canada, in an effort to deliver better service to medically vulnerable people.

Suzanne Bell-Matheson, the director of Coporate Services with Owen Sound police, spoke about the new partnership.

"The Medic Alert Connect Protect initiative ensures community safety, especially populations that are most vulnerable, like people with dementia, or tendency to wander, people with autism or serious brain injuries," she says. "The partnership with our service will provide us with 24/7 access to the medic alert subscribers identity."

Bell-Matheson says this will allow the police to better monitor and respond to emergencies involving medically vulnerable individuals. Owen Sound will be hosting an info session and BBQ at the police centre at 11am on Friday.
