Full House For 'Dinning' Premiere in Blyth

It was a tribute to a fallen son and his family.

"Our Beautiful Sons - Remembering Matthew Dinning" premiered at the Blyth Festival Wednesday night in front of a full house.

The play is a tribute to Corporal Matthew Dinning of Wingham, who died while serving his country in Afghanistan in April of 2006.

Complete with laughs and tears, "Our Beautiful Sons - Remembering Matthew Dinning" strikes at the heart of human loss; a family learning to cope and to live, according to director Gil Garrat.

“While they are facing their grief, they are also chasing after how to keep reaching, right, these are not people who are defeated in any way, these are people who live and want to keep going, and are trying to find a way to keep filling their life and their memory of Matthew,” says Garrat.

Wednesday night was also CKNX Night at the Blyth Festival premiere; many audience members thrilled with the performance, including Diane Rogers of Mildmay.

“I liked it; it had a lot of meaning to it.  That was good, there were no flaws, it was perfect,” says Rogers.

"Our Beautiful Sons - Remembering Matthew Dinning" runs until August 6 at the Memorial Hall Festival in Blyth.
