A 37-year-old woman is facing charges after she was allegedly found passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle, with a 5-year-old girl in the passenger seat.
The Ontario Provincial Police say on Tuesday around 9:44am, the driver of a 2015 Kia Sorento stopped a vehicle on Grey Rd. 14 in the Township of Southgate and left a 7-year-old boy standing on the side of the road before continuing north.
Police later located the vehicle stopped in the middle of the road on Grey Rd. 14 near Southgate Rd. 12 with the female driver allegedly passed out over the steering wheel. Officers also allegedly found a bottle of alcohol next to the driver. A 5-year-old girl in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
No injuries have been reported as a result of the incident, however, the driver was taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution.
After being released from hospital, the woman was taken to the OPP detachment for breath tests, which she failed. Police allege the woman had more than three times the legal limit of alcohol in her system.
A 37-year-old of Mississauga woman has been charged with care and control of a motor vehicle while impaired, care and control of a motor vehicle over 80 mg, and failing to provide necessaries of life for a child. She will appear in an Owen Sound court on July 14.
