Meaford Hospital Hosts Family Medicine Residents

Thirty family medicine residents from The University of Toronto will attend a rural medicine retreat at Meaford hospital.

The students will be able to speak with local doctors, attend a cardiac monitoring session, take part in a rural birthing scenario and join a casting clinic.

The group will also enjoy a scarecrow building workshop, and visit the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre.

The family medicine residents will also have a chance to explore the area, meet with local community representatives and ask questions about local practice opportunities.

Grey Bruce Health Services is hosting the event Friday along with the Rural Ontario Medical Program.

On average, the Medical Education Program at GBHS hosts 20 residents per month.

"This event provides residents with an excellent opportunity to connect with and learn from experts in the field – our rural physicians," says Lance Thurston, GBHS President and CEO. "Bringing these future docs into Grey and Bruce, also give us a chance to highlight the rewarding aspects of living and practicing family medicine in our rural communities."
