The reconstruction of 12th Street East in Owen Sound is getting underway.
The city awarded the contract to MacDonnell Excavating Ltd. to reconstruct about 140 m of roadway this summer between 3rd Avenue East (Grey Road 15) and 4th Avenue East.
The project includes replacing sanitary sewer and services watermains, storm sewer catchbasins and maintenance structures.
The sidewalks, curbs, driveways and surface areas will all be replaced, with work expected to conclude this fall.
Starting today, the area will be closed to through traffic. Access will be maintained for local traffic and emergency vehicles.
