When the Toronto Blue Jays take to the field on June 22nd against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the game will be a very special one.
Grade 5 and 6 students from Exeter Elementary School will be at Rogers Centre in Toronto to see the Blue Jays play, but what will be even more special is the opening pitch.
10-year-old Hunter King, a Grade 5 student at Exeter Elementary School who lives with Cerebral Palsy, is about to live his dream.
And it was all made possible thanks to his fellow classmates, the result of a persuasive writing assignment according to teacher Ian Dekker.
"The kids all knew that Hunter loved the Blue Jays and we started a persuasive letter campaign targeted at the Blue Jays for Hunter to throw the first pitch at a game in June for our year end trips," says Dekker.
Hunter has chosen his favourite player, Edwin Encarnacion, to catch the ball.
The 10-year-old will be joined on the field by his mon, dad, and sister.
