Provincial Police were called in to rescue a dog left in a hot car at Grand Bend Beach.
OPP located a locked 2014 BMW in a public parking lot Saturday about 7pm.
Pedestrians felt the dog was distressed due to heat exhaustion, and someone smashed a rear window to remove the dog.
OPP contacted the owner to the BMW, and the dog was returned, pending an investigation by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA)- London Humane Society.
The OPP will consult and continue to investigate this incident with the assistance of the SPCA.
OPP remind pet owners that a dog left in a closed vehicle in the sunlight with no water can quickly become distressed.
Fines for causing pain or suffering to an animal can add up to $10,000. and jail time can range from 18 months to five years.
The OPP would prefer that if circumstances permit, that they be called for assistance prior to anyone causing damage to real property
