The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance hopes to address increasing wait times at the Stratford Emergency Department. The board is looking for solutions for extra hours of physician coverage at the site. A designation as regional stroke centre for Huron Perth has added to the pressure at the Stratford site due to patient referrals. The intensity of nursing care required for the patients showing up at the emergency room is also increasing. Physician recruitment efforts have resulted in some success in the region. Two new physicians are joining the STAR Family Health Team in Stratford this summer, Dr. Vanessa Kustec and Dr. Erin Glass.
Dr. Kyle Armstrong will take over Dr. Maarten Bokhout's practice at the Clinton Family Health Team.
