Bruce Power A Key Part Of Ontario's Climate Action Plan

Bruce Power says the nuclear station will continue to be a key element as the province introduces its new Climate Change Action Plan.

Ontario wants to cut greenhouse gas pollution to 15 per cent from 1990 by 2020, and 80 per cent by 2050.

70 per cent of the generation needed to phase out coal came from the Bruce Power site.

Bruce Power provides about 30 per cent of Ontario's electricity at affordable rates, with no emissions.

The energy giant says its multi year investment to maintain that output in the long term is a very important part of the action plan.

Bruce power says its 6,300 megawatts of output in Ontario’s electricity system is the equivalent of keeping six million cars off the road each year.

Later this year, Bruce Power will release a study it is conducting in collaboration with Plug’n Drive, the Asthma Society of Canada, University of Waterloo and Pollution Probe outlining how the use of electric vehicles can be further advanced, building on the action plan released today.
