Bruce Grey Owen Sound MP Larry Miller will not support a bill to change the words of the national anthem.
Miller says he respects the motivation behind the proposal but he cannot vote in favour of the motion.
Miller says the former Conservative government proposed similar changes, and found the public response was strong and negative. He says Canadians value tradition as part of their national identity.
He says it's important to protect heritage as the 150th anniversary of Confederation approaches.
Miller says his vote tonight will reflect the opinions of constituents.
The bill calls for the line "in all thy sons command'' replaced with "in all of us command.''
