The Grey Bruce Public Health Unit is looking for input on the kinds of food and beverages sold at local recreation spaces.
An online survey asks you what you currently buy and what you would like to be able to buy at local recreation centres.
Over 200 people have already had their say, with some wanting treat food available, and others saying “it’s about time they made it easier to buy something healthy.”
The results will be used to help local municipalities make informed decisions about adding healthier food options.
The survey is part of the action plan from last year's Healthy Food Choices and Tap Water in Municipal Recreation Spaces.
The report found room for improved choices, and suggests recreation and health food just make sense together.
“It’s all about giving consumers the choices that support both healthy eating and being active.” says Public Health Dietitian Kathryn Forsyth. “When considered together these two elements can truly support a healthier community.”
