9 delegates from the Bruce Grey Owen Sound Federal Liberal Association attended the weekend's 3 day policy convention in Winnipeg.
President Mary Anne Alton says they adopted a policy outlining the urgent need for federal representatives to work with provincial and municipal governments to encourage affordable housing, which she says is a big concern locally.
The party also resolved to encourage all provinces to work with the Federal Government to legislate long term plans for infrastructure projects in a coordinated fashion.
Past candidate Kimberly Love advocated for the Owen Sound Harbour and Wiarton Airport during policy discussion related to infrastructure.
And Prime Minister Justin Trudeau gathered six month old Finn Lipka of Owen Sound into his arms, held him up to the cheers of the crowd, then kissed him and passed him back to his mom.
Alton adds Young Liberal Delegates, Liam Kelly of Chesley, and Isabel Drummond of Owen Sound were thrilled with a new policy to lower the voting age to 16.
Liam commented, “we get engaged in the political process through our civics classes but often young people lose that excitement by the time they are eligible to vote”.
