One of the co-chairs of the Clinton Skateboard Park committee says the turnout for last night's public meeting to launch their fundraising was a little disappointing.
Steve Ott says they're hoping to raise $180,000 to $200,000 to build the park they've designed. The municipality has agreed to give them $30,000 this year and they're hoping another $30,000 next year, but Ott admits that leaves a lot of money to be raised.
Ott says realistically they're hoping to get started on construction next year and they're excited about what the finished park will look like, but they're going to need more than the half dozen people that showed up last night.
The old skateboard park in Clinton was torn down for safety reasons.
