A summer of research and fundraising has begun at the Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health in Seaforth.
University students from Western, Guelph, Waterloo and Queen's have started to tackle individual and team research projects.
Some of the students will be spearheading a project called "F3: Food, Fitness and Finance". It hopes to lessen the burden of dementia and muscle loss in seniors. Strategies in all three of those areas will be used to find ways to prevent or slow the progression of dementia.
Several students will be working on a Falls Prevention Program. Others will assist with a summer camp for kids and their grandparents. It's held at the Edge of Walton outdoor adventure camp from July 4th to 8th.
Gateway’s fundraising events include the annual Hometown Heroes Charity Hockey Game on July 21st; the Gateway to Health and Wealth Trail Run/Walk; and the Chicken Farmer’s Golf Tournament.
