Perth-Wellington MPP Presents Petitions Opposing Higher Drug Costs For Seniors

Perth Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece has introduced 74 petitions to the Ontario Legislature opposing any increase to seniors drug costs.

Pettapiece launched the petitions following the 2016 budget introduced in March, which included increasing many seniors' drug costs by 70 per cent.

He says 250 people signed the petitions to send the government a clear message that medication price hikes would have a negative impact on Perth Wellington's seniors.

The government has since cancelled the plan to raise deductibles, and will review all public drug programs.

Pettapiece hopes the petitions send a message that increased drug costs are unacceptable .

“As we said all along, it’s wrong to go after seniors to pay for the Liberals’ mistakes,” said Pettapiece. “It appears this government is finally getting the message.
