The Bluewater District School Board will receive $24.1-million toward the construction of a new school in the Meaford area.
The new school will house students from Kindergarten through Grade 12. It will be designed to meet the growing needs of students and the community over the coming years.
"We greatly acknowledge the Ministry of Education and its committment to our students through funding for a new school to serve the Meaford area. Also, it is important to recognize the collective contributions of our trustees, staff, community and municipal partners in ensuring a smooth, well-informed accomodation review process which has led to an extremely favourable outcome," says Director of Education Steve Blake.
While no details as to a timeline or location of the new school have been announced, school board officials say they will release that information once details have been finalized.
The Meaford Community School is set to close its doors effective on June 30.
