The Owen Sound North Stars Junior B Lacrosse team opened their season over the weekend with a game in Wallaceburg.
The North Stars beat the Thrashers 7-5 led by captain Tyler Gibbons with 2 goals and an assist. Gibbons was named the North Stars Player of the Game.
It was part of a double header for Wallaceburg who also lost 11-9 to Ennismore to start the season at 0-2.
The Thrashers are in Owen Sound this coming Saturday.
Alan Smith will begin his new role with the municipality on July 20.
