Two Arrested For Break-Ins In Hanover

Hanover police have arrested a suspect in connection to a series of commercial and residential break and enters in the town over the past month.

Hanover and Wellington County OPP executed warrants on a hotel room in the 200-block of 7th Ave. in Hanover on April 16. Police seized stolen property and a controlled substance.

Police charged 39-year-old Pamela Schieckoff of no fixed address with possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance.

Further investigation lead to an arrest warrant for 42-year-old George Hammill of no fixed address.

Police laid 23 criminal charges against Hammill, including 11 counts of break and enter, seven counts of theft, and five counts of possession of stolen property.

Police searched a residence in the 300-block of 10th St. in Hanover on April 17, and recovered stolen property.

Later that day, West Grey police located Hammill walking just east of Hanover, but he allegedly fled. Officers in West Grey and Hanover, as well as the OPP and the OPP Canine Unit searched the area but did not find him.

South Bruce OPP arrested Hammill in Walkerton on April 19 and turned him over to Hanover police.

The investigation continues, and police will contact the owners of the stolen goods.
