Connor Roberts is entering the OHL in high profile fashion.
The Owen Sound native, who played for the Grey Bruce Highlanders program, was taken 3rd overall by the Hamilton Bulldogs in this year's OHL Priority Selection Draft.
Bulldogs play-by-play voice and analyst Reed Duthie says Roberts brings some much needed elements to the Bulldogs roster.
"He can really play that power forward type of game, he has great skating ability, and a really awesome snapshot. The Bulldogs are in need of a guy who can really pound the pucks on net, and he certainly has the talent, and size, to do that effectively right away."
Roberts is listed at 6'2", 204 lbs., which is very good size for a 16 year old that is still filling out. While Roberts was drafted as a centre, Duthie feels he may be better suited on the wing.
"You look at the centres here now, with Matt Strome, Brandon Saigeon, Mackenzie Entwistle, he may be pushed to the wing just on the numbers game. But I actually think he may be better suited there, because he can get in on forechecks and use that size, and can get that great snapshot off a lot more coming down the wing."
Roberts will add to an impressive young group that just barely missed the playoffs last year in Hamilton, and will surely be a talent to watch for many years.
