Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson says local residents who benefit from demonstration schools for special needs students are concerned the province may cut funding.
Thompson recently held a meeting with a number of families in Exeter to discuss how the schools help children who learn differently. She says a rally is planned at Queen's Park tomorrow to support a Private Member's Motion to keep those schools open.
Education minister Liz Sandals announced Wednesday that applications for admission to the schools are being accepted for the 2016-2017 school year.
But in a tweet, Thompson says the minister is back-tracking but there is still no commitment to keeping schools open.

The schools in question include Robarts School for the Deaf, and Amethyst School, for children with learning disabilities, in London.
Thompson has launched a petition to ensure they continue to serve students with special needs.
