The 2016 Senior and Mixed National Broomball Championships are taking place in Owen Sound.
Games began yesterday at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Arena and the Julie McArthur Rec Complex.
Organizer Ryan Greig says the opening ceremonies in Owen Sound were a success.
"Every team came out on the ice. One team no-showed so they are going to get a slap on the wrist for that," says Greig. "And then the game between the Phantoms and Rookes after was a barn burner so everyone went home happy."
In that game, the host Kilsyth Phantoms fell 4-3 in overtime to the Palmerston Rookies.
"It was a really good game, could have went either way," he says. "The local fans were a little bit disappointed that Kilsyth didn't come out on top but save that for the weekend."
Games continue most of the weekend with the gold medal games starting Saturday afternoon.
