Huron County Expecting Busy Tourism Season

The president of the Huron Tourism Association says expectations are high for this tourism season.

Speaking at the 27th annual Tourism Event and Brochure Swap in Clinton, Kim Burgsma stated the lower dollar and lower gas prices should help bring more tourists to the area -- particularly American tourists.

Burgsma owns the Samuels Hotel in Saltford and says she's already seeing more visitors from Michigan and believes that the case throughout the county.

Burgsma says Huron tourism operators are still not attracting the number of visitors they'd like to see from Toronto, and suggests many of them are still travelling north to the Muskokas.

She says Huron has to get the message to Toronto that they can avoid the traffic and higher prices by coming west. Huron Tourism Meeting
