Grey County To Continue Paramedic Health Care Program

An innovative Grey County health care program will continue.

Paramedics have been providing in-home care to a number of patients for the past year. It was uncertain if funding for the program would continue beyond March 31 of this year.  But Director of Paramedic Services Mike Muir says he's heard the province will continue the funding.

The paramedics have been treating patients in their homes, in cooperation with their family doctors, for things like heart conditions and diabetes.

Muir says it's reduced the number of emergency room visits and hospitalizations.

"We're really excited and this program has been groundbreaking.  We've never seen the response that we've had from the patients that we're dealing with. They're very happy," says Muir.
