Development charges are up for discussion again around the Saugeen Shores council table.
Council received its draft report from Hemson Consulting, which suggests hiking the fees on new builds to just over $17,000 per home, up from the current fee of just under $15,000.
Mayor Mike Smith says it's premature to suggest council will implement the full increase.
"There will be a range of ideas of how we get to [a final number], whether we implement it all or phase it in, I know we've struggled with that in former councils," says Smith. "I think this is the fourth time I've sat through this presentation and we've never gone right to the full [charge], we've always phased them in, but we'll see."
Local contractors were vocal in opposition during the last round of development charge updates, which included an unsuccessful appeal to the Ontario Municipal Board in 2014.
Craig Binning of Hemson Consulting says they have held stakeholder meetings with the construction industry and will continue to take input.
He says they will hold a public information session later this month, as well as a formal public meeting in May, with a final recommendation and bylaw to come forward later this summer.
