Bruce County Motorists Should Beware of Deer

South Bruce OPP report five deer-vehicle collisions over the past four days.

Police suggest motorists be especially attentive from sunset to midnight, and near dawn.

Drive with caution through areas known to have a large deer population, and remember deer seldom run alone.

Use your high beam headlights when you can which will reflect off of the eyes of the deer.

Slow down and blow your horn to frighten the deer away.

Break firmly if there's a deer in your path, but stay in your lane.

Many serious crashes occur when drivers swerve to avoid deer but lose control or hit another vehicle.

And always wear a seat belt.
