The Huron Small Business Enterprise Centre in Seaforth is now accepting applications for its Summer Company program. The program provides up to three-thousand dollars for people between the ages of 15 and 29 to start their own summer business.
Co-ordinator Alison Lobb says the young entrepreneurs must be returning to school this fall and are required to submit a business plan and cash flow projection. If approved, they will receive 15-hundred dollars to start their business, and another 15-hundred after running their business for eight to twelve weeks.
Lobb says each student will be provided with a mentor and receive some training. To get started all they have to do is contact the Small Business Enterprise Centre in Seaforth. Applications will be accepted until the beginning of May.
Lobb says they've had about 100 students go through the program over the years and many have continued to run their business after the summer. Students can get more information and an application on line by googling 'summer company program'.
