The Parks Superintendent for Goderich says there may be some hope for the few Ash trees in the town that haven't already come under attack from the Emerald Ash Borer.
Martin Quinn says the Emerald Ash Borer started killing trees in the south end of the town about five years ago, so the attack is in the final stages.
Quinn says the cover in the ravines, river valleys and in Maitland Woods is about 50% Ash and they are replacing some of those trees with other species with funding from organizations like the TD Bank.
But Quinn says a wasp that is the natural predator of the Emerald Ash Borer has recently been released in Huron County. The hope is the wasps will breed to the point that they control the Emerald Ash Borer population.
Quinn adds previous to the introduction of the wasps the Emerald Ash Borer did very well because they have no natural predators in North America.
