Fundraiser Underway after Fire Leaves Bruce Township Family Homeless

A Go Fund Me page is collecting donations for a Bruce Township family left  homeless after weekend fires.

Family member Brittany Stewart has set up a go fund me page for Andy, Sharon and Kristin Stewart.

So far people have donated over $13,000 toward a $100,000. goal.

The $300,000 house was destroyed, and to make matters worse, Brittany says the insurance company has denied their  claim.

She explains there was a miscommunication, and the family did not learn that their insurance had been cancelled until Friday.

The Fire Marshall is investigating the blaze at 1426 Concession 12, but the cause is not considered suspicious.

Firefighters were called to the property at 3am on March 11, and again at 6am on March 12.

Police will provide more information later this week.

Sharon first woke to the smell of smoke at 3am, and woke Kristin up, before calling Saugeen Shores Police to let Constable Andy Stewart know his house was on fire.

They managed to save a few of their pets, but lost their three dogs and a cat.
