Perth Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece says leader Patrick Brown is bringing a new dimension to the party that should lead to a Progressive Conservative election victory in 2018.
He says the mood at the party convention in Ottawa on the weekend was very upbeat.
Pettapiece is also supportive of the party's committment to find solutions to climate change, adding the Liberal approach will cost taxpayers too much.
"This money is being used not only for green projects as they say, although they haven't defined that for us. It's going to be put into a fund that can be used for other things," he explains.
He says the party is concerned it will end up like the new health tax that was supposed to boost health revenue, but instead went toward the general revenues. He says his party wants a revenue neutral approach that encourages carbon reductions , and puts money back in the hands of taxpayers.
Pettapeice was also impressed that one third of the participants were young Conservatives from all walks of life. He says when young people are enthusiastic about the message, they work hard for the party.
