OPP SUV Rammed During Arrest Attempt in Seaforth

A woman from Kitchener is scheduled to make a video court appearance in Goderich today on criminal charges stemming from a police pursuit that ended in Seaforth Saturday morning.

It started around 4:30 that morning in Brussels, when a man heard his pickup truck engine running, and watched as someone drove off in it.   The owner immediately called the OPP, and then followed his truck in a second vehicle.

OPP officers spotted the pickup in Seaforth, and during the attempt to get the vehicle to stop, an OPP SUV was rammed.   A second police vehicle was able to pull up behind the stolen pickup, and prevent it from leaving.   No one was injured, but the OPP vehicle sustained heavy damage.

A 29-year-old woman from Kitchener was arrested. She had outstanding warrants from Waterloo Regional Police Service and was currently serving a probation sentence. Officers also found two wallets that contained identification and securities.  They had been stolen from an unlocked vehicle in Brussels.

The accused remains in custody, facing a total of 12 charges, including Theft of a Motor Vehicle; Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle; Mischief Over $5,000; Assaulting a Peace Officer with a Weapon; and Possession of Stolen Property Under $5,000.
