Southgate Reviewing Development Fees

In the face of large growth projections in Dundalk, Southgate council is looking at changing its development charges.

The charges are designed to ensure that new development pays for itself and doesn’t come on the back of existing property owners.

The amount of new development in the wings means Dundalk may be looking at a upwards of $20-million in new infrastructure such as water, sewers and roads.

But development charges will only account for $8-million.

Southgate will decide on whether to proceed with changing its development charge bylaw at its next meeting March 16.
