A new Bluewater School Board preliminary staff report on Owen Sound -area schools has made some major changes from a previous report.
The latest staff Accommodation Review report proposes that all secondary students attend West Hill in 2016-17, and that OSCVI be renovated to accommodate K-8 students in 2017-18.
As well, the new report recommends closing a fourth elementary school -- Sydenham Community School. It would join the closure of Derby Public, Bayview Public and Dufferin Elementary.
Derby would close at the end of this school year. The others next year.
Staff is also to begin preparing business case plans to build a new West Hill Secondary School and Hillcrest Elementary School.
This preliminary staff report will be presented to the Board with a public meeting scheduled for March 23rd.
The deadline to get on the agenda to make comments at that meeting is March 9th.
A final report will be presented to the Board April 12th with trustees making a final decision April 19th.
