Ontario's spring bear hunt pilot project in parts of Grey and Bruce Counties will now continue through 2020.
The project aims to assess concerns about human bear encounters, economic growth and tourism in the north.
The spring bear hunt project will include all 88 wildlife management units that currently have the fall bear hunt, and non resident hunters.
That includes management units 82A, 83 and 84 which covers Northern Bruce Peninsula, and the geographic townships of Keppel and Sarawak in 82A and the geographic township of Amabel in 84.
The spring bear hunt pilot will take place from May 1 through June 15, starting in 2016 and ending in 2020.
The province says Ontario is home to a healthy and sustainable black bear population with up to 105,000 black bears living in the province. Minister of Natural Resources and Forests Bill Mauro says they are committed to addressing bear related public concerns.
