Streetscape Committee Looks To Improve Hensall

The Chair of the Hensall Streetscape Committee is pleased with the municipal response to his presentation at the last council meeting.

Chuck Mallette didn't ask for any money.  His request was for time to start meeting with municipal officials and work out a plan to improve the streetscape and infrastructure in the village.

Mallette believes it's important to start out with realistic and achievable goals, so it's important they work with the municipality to identify and agree on areas that could use some upgrading or even just a bit of house-keeping.

Mallette does point out though there are also concerns about two empty buildings on the main street. He says the owner is absent and hasn't paid taxes in some time and he's urging the municipality to proceed with tax sales on the buildings to clean up what he calls a blight on the main street.

Mallette adds the municipality has called him since his presentation and asked for a copy, and he's looking forward to meeting with them and establishing some goals for improving the village of Hensall.
