Survey Finds Owen Sound Family Health Team Staff Unhappy

There appears to be serious morale problems among OPSEU staff at the Owen Sound Health Team.

Two-thirds of unionized staff who responded to an OPSEU survey said they'd been bullied or harassed.

OPSEU spokesperson David Cox says they conducted the 16 question survey in January after they heard of undercurrents of dissatisfaction among workers. 31 of the 41 OPSEU members at the Family Health Team responded.

Cox says besides the issue of bullying, two-thirds said they would not recommend it as a good place to work, 80% rated management as poor, and two-thirds are actively looking for another job.

Cox says the survey results are disturbing.

"Just to see the results that people would express so strongly, we are quite concerned and quite shocked to see this come out in such stark terms," says Cox.

They have provided Owen Sound Family Team officials with the survey results and are waiting for a response.

Owen Sound Family Health Team is a new bargaining unit, part of OPSEU Local 276. It was organized in September 2015, and members ratified a first collective agreement in January 2016.

Cox says OPSEU wants to work with the Family Health team to get to the root of the problems.
