Huron East Man Charged After Cruiser Rammed

Huron County OPP have charged a 20-year-old Huron East man after an incident in Clinton Tuesday morning.

The OPP were informed that some occupants of a Ford F-150 were drinking alcohol, and they pulled up behind a suspect vehicle just before 11am.

The vehicle had pulled into a driveway on Queen St., but the driver quickly reversed back out.

The officer activated his lights and was exiting his cruiser, when a pickup truck drove forward and rammed the police vehicle. The truck then sped off north on Queen St. Officers later located the truck abandoned on North St. N.

Police learned from the owner of the truck that he had not given permission to the suspected driver to use it.

Anthony Riley is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, assaulting a peace officer, and a taking a vehicle without consent.

The 20-year-old has a court date of February 22 in Goderich.
