Mixed Winter Weather Over 24 Hours

There is a system that will bring a mix of snow, ice and rain to the area tonight.

A special weather statement is in effect for Bruce, Grey and northern areas of Wellington County including the Mount Forest and Arthur areas. The weather maker developed over Texas and is forecast to reach the Great Lakes region tonight. A period of snow is possible and there is a risk of some freezing rain and ice pellets before the precipitation changes to rain overnight as the temperature warms up.

In areas south, including Huron and Perth are more likely to see rain than any snow.

Precision Weather meteorologist Russ Murley says the storm will have more impact north and east of the region.

"We are going to start out with a brief period of snow and sleet early tonight with minor accumulations," says Murley. "Again this is going to be a much more powerful storm for central and northern sections of the province."

And looking ahead February will continue to be a temperature roller coaster.

"I think we will be in for some colder weather starting next week," says Murley. "Then we should go into a warmer period to finish the second half of the month. After the 20th, the last 10 days of the month will be a little warmer than normal."
