A pilot project is under way in Huron-Perth to help identify individuals and/or families in our communities at high risk of harm and/or victimization.
The "Situation Table" is a team of 21 partners from law enforcement agencies throughout Huron and Perth Counties.
Huron County OPP Constable Jamie Stanley says it's all about prevention and helping those before something happens.
Stanley says the cases are brought forward anonymously to the group and those at the table must unanimously agree that a certain person is at an elevated risk stage. If they meet that threshold, they try to come up with a plan of how they can best help and support this person.
"It comes right down to community well being, we want to do whatever we possibly can to support those people before they fall into that crisis mode," says Constable Stanley.
A total of 18 individuals/families have already been identified and supported locally.
Partners include Huron and Perth OPP, Stratford Police Service, and the Wingham Police Service.
