The latest available statistics indicate the efforts of the Bayfield Arena Community Partners Association have been affective in increasing the hours of use as well as revenue from the arena.
Chair Ron Keys says the latest numbers provided by municipal staff suggest they finished 2015 with about 80-thousand dollars in revenue.
That compares with about 50-thousand for the year before the Association assumed marketing responsibility for the arena to prevent council from pulling the ice.
Keys points out the ice is one of the major expenses for the arena but it's also the major revenue-generator.
Keys adds promoting the arena was an uphill battle at first because so many people were under the impression that the arena was closing but they're been able to turn that around and continue to find new users for the ice.
He points out they just started a shinny night for players roughly up to about twelve years old who either want more ice time or don't want to play competitive hockey and that's attracting a lot of interest.
Keys explains in June of 2014 Bluewater council gave the Association three years to increase the revenue and hours of use to save the arena so they have the rest of this year and next year to do that and so far Keys says the results are very encouraging.
