Huron Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson says the Ontario Retirement Pension Plan is the wrong approach at the wrong time.
She says the impact of the plan would be dangerous for the future of Huron Bruce and the province.
Thompson points to a cost benefit analysis released by the government that she says shows the economy won't recover from the shock of the new plan for 20 years.
Thompson says job losses from the plan will be in the tens of thousands, while disposable income and private investment declines.
She says it will be hard for anyone making under $90,000 to save anything on their own.
She says the plan will disadvantage an entire generation, and some businesses will not be able to bear the cost.
She is calling on the government to give the idea some sober second thought.
