Central Huron Residents Not Happy With Intersection's New Layout

The new configuration of the intersection of King St. and Bayfield Rd. at the south end of Clinton generated a lot of discussion at this week's Central Huron council meeting.

It's also created at lot of discussion at county council.

The road under the railway bridge was lowered a couple of years ago to allow large trucks to travel under the bride but Central Huron Mayor Jim Ginn says that led to problems with a lot of trucks using that route through Clinton when they attempted to turn east onto Hwy. 8.

So the municipality swapped roads with the county and the new configuration directs trucks to highway four and if they're continuing onto Hwy. 8 they can now make that turn much more easily.

Ginn adds he's aware that some people are unhappy with the changes and they've asked for a report from the county engineer on possible improvements, including better signage at the intersection.

That report is expected at next Wednesday's committee of the whole meeting.

Ginn adds with the construction season now over the intersection will likely remain as it is until next spring.
