The Huron Recreation, Arts and Sports program got a $55,000 boost today from a United Way Perth-Huron volunteer.
The program supports the families who otherwise wouldn't have the income to register their kids in recreational activities. It's administered by the YMCA in Goderich.
The donor is Ron Cameron and the moeny will be spread out over three years.
The YMCA's Senior Vice-President of Operations, Kathi Lomas-McGee, says the program went public in September and they currently serve about sixty families but they're hoping to increase that to around 200 over the next three years.
She says they do their best to match the activity with the interests of the child but she points out the benefits of a child being able to pursue an interest in any activity are amazing.
