Owen Sounds 3rd Avenue East Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

A major road reconstruction project in Owen Sound has wrapped up with a ribbon cutting ceremony today. The reopening of 3rd Avenue East/Grey Road 15 was celebrated today by Grey Warden Alan Barfoot, Owen Sound Mayor Ian Boddy , and Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker. The joint $7.3 million project included replacing water and sewer services, as well as upgrades to the road and sidewalks. The province kicked in $1.1 million in funding, and the city and county spit the remaining cost. The upgrades were imperative to meet existing and future needs in the city. The road serves key areas like the East Bayshore Road, Industrial Park, and Sydenham Heights. “It’s exciting to see three levels of government collaborate on a project of this magnitude that’s been close to 10 years in the making,” said Warden Barfoot. “Effective local government relies on teamwork and this project is a prime example of what can be accomplished when we work together.” “I am pleased to be part of this infrastructure revitalization project to support our citizens and neighbours,” said Mayor Boddy. “This joint-venture supports our transportation, sewage, drainage, and recreation areas. These improvements will continue to establish Owen Sound as the place Where You Want to Live.”
