Huron County council has approved a slight increase to the maintenance grants it provides to the libraries in Brussels, Bayfield and Zurich.
Huron Cultural Services Director Meaghan Wark explains over the last year or so significant capital improvements have been made to the libraries.
She says that resulted in a considerable increase in the number of people using those libraries.
Wark says the maintenance grant was increased from $10,000 a year to $12,000 a year to help cover the cost of accommodating the increase in traffic.
Wark adds the capital improvements range from expansions of the buildings to adding new computers and all of those things generate more traffic through the libraries.
She says it's great to see more people using the libraries and they appreciate the increase in funding to help them meet the increased demand.
