Perth County councillors have a lot on their plate for 2016.
Completion of the public works building in Mitchell, and a resolution to the surplus farm dwelling debate are on the horizon.
Outgoing Warden Bob Wilhelm says council made headway on a number of long-overdue projects in the last year.
"We've certainly started construction with an EMS base headquarters in Stratford that was certainly needed and we look forward to that providing good service and training etc. for the city of Stratford and all of Perth County." Council is expecting the EMS base will be completed by late 2016.
Wilhelm also says the surplus farmhouse severance issue might have been the most controversial debate of 2015.
Wilhelm chaired some of the public and council meetings and is adamant that allowing severances would benefit the region. "If they were allowed, we feel we could turn this declining population and at least maintain status quo to improve our churches, improve our rural areas, and it even affects the funding to the local hospitals."
