The Municipality of Grey Highlands will begin upgrading its streetlight system to energy-efficient LEDs.
It's a part of a commitment to reduce energy use and save on energy and maintenance costs for the future.
The new LED streetlights are expected to reduce the municipality’s electricity consumption by an estimated 64 per cent. It's also expected that the transition to LEDs will cut maintenance costs by up to 80 per cent since they last up to four times longer than the existing streetlights.
“The partnership with RealTerm and LAS has resulted in cost savings for the municipality, will improve our infrastructure for the foreseeable future and help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions," says Grey Highlands Mayor Paul McQueen.
Grey Highlands is one of more than 130 Ontario municipalities that have chosen RealTerm Energy and partner Local Authority Services to upgrade street lighting, including Owen Sound, Chatsworth, Meaford.
