Wellington North council is not going to make a ruling on the Sunday gun hunt proposal until January.
It's become a very controversial issue with delegations on both sides coming before council for the last three meetings.
Councillor Lisa Hern, who attending her first meeting after winning the Ward 3 by-election last week, asked for more time to get up to speed on the issues.
Mayor Andy Lennox also wants to hear from all interested parties, and see a staff report on the issue.
The Mayor also apologized to councillor Steve McCabe for allowing personal attacks from a delegation to occur during the last council meeting.
It happened during a heated discussion surrounding a gun hunt on Sundays.
Lennox says council must operate in a forum free of personal attacks and he pledged not to allow that kind of outburst to happen again.
