Ripley Reunion Committee Giving Back To Community In A Big Way

The Ripley Reunion Committee is giving back to the Huron-Kinloss Community in a big way.

Every ten years, the group organizes and holds a reunion event in the Town of Ripley called the Old Boys' Reunion and this year was a huge success.

The event was held over the August Civic Long Weekend from July 30 to August 3 2015 , as it always is, and this year managed to raise a whopping $59,369.13.

Committee chairperson, Amanda Farrell-Welsh, went before Huron-Kinloss Council on Monday night and says the reception was fantastic.

"Council was very pleased with the results, it was a fantastic event, we had so many people come back and see all of the great things that are going on the community; the bonus then of course is to have the extra funds to put in to community projects," says Farrell-Walsh.

And that is exactly what they intend to do.

Farrell-Walsh tells CKNX News the money will be dispersed to various groups and organizations in the community.

"Part of the reason we had a successful event is because our volunteers were fantastic, and we've got so many great volunteer groups in the community that really know how to make those dollars go a long, long way and have a big impact," adds Farrell-Walsh.

The Ripley Reunion Committee is now putting out the call to local groups and organizations who would like to receive a donation by sending an email to info@ripleyreunion.ca and describing who you are as an organization/group, what you do as an organisation /group and how much of a donation is being sought.
