Kincardine Council Considers B-Line Trail

The Municipality of Kincardine is working with the Kincardine Trails Association and Bruce County to develop a trail along Bruce County Road 23. A report for Council says Phase 2 of the Kincardine to Inverhuron Trail is expected to provide a safe pedestrian and cycling route along with B Line. The municipality has applied for funding from the Ontario Municipal Cycling Infrastructure Program, and the project has been shortlisted. The grant deadline is November 27th, and council hopes to receive a grant of $325,000. toward the $845,000 estimated cost. Now they will put together a formal application which must include agreements with the municipality, and any other landowners where the trail will be developed, including Bruce County. Bruce County has already passed a bylaw to help plan the project. Kincardine's Trails Bridging Reserve Fund has $275,000 available for the project. The remainder of the money could come from higher taxes, donations or sponsorships. Council will consider the plan tomorrow evening.
