High School Athletics Round-up

The Kincardine Knights junior girls basketball team topped Saugeen District Secondary School 50-30  in Bluewater Athletic Association.

In senior girls basketball, Kincardine topped Saugeen 48-10.

In junior boys volleyball, St. Mary's took a straight sets victory over Peninsula Shores. Peninsula shores then edged Georgian Bay 2-1.

In senior boys volleyball, St. Mary's won their game against Peninsula Shores 2-0 in straight sets.

In Huron Perth Athletic Association, F.E. Madill edged South Huron 22-21 in junior girls basketball. Stratford Central topped St. Anne's 38-30 lead by Julia Cressman with 19 points. Tatum James sunk 28 baskets and Mackenzie Dixon added 12 more in Stratford Northwestern's 56-12 win over Goderich. Joanna Van De Walle had 7 points in St. Michael's 46-21 win over St. Anne's. Goderich topped Mitchell 51-18, Listowel edged Madill 24-22, St. Marys dunked Central Huron 38-6, South Huron topped Listowel 45-21, Stratford Northwestern beat Mitchell 53-17 and St. Michael topped Stratford Central 36-12.

In senior girls basketball, South Huron downed F.E. Madill 37-12, Stratford Central beat St. Anne's  48-31. Andrea Perat Garcia sunk 28 points in Stratford Northwestern's 51-37 win over Goderich. Michaela Valiquette had 11 points for St. Michael in their 54-24 win over St. Anne's. Elsewhere, Mitchell beat Goderich 49-29, South Huron topped Listowel 58-37, St. Michael beat Stratford Central 39-6, Mitchell downed Stratford Northwestern 47-29 and St. Marys fell 26-20 to Central Huron.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
